Q1. Do some of Tundra’s products today contain lead?Yes, all of Tundra's products released to production prior to 2005 contain lead in small amounts; primarily in the finishes (solder balls) on our surface mount packages. The finishes use a tin/lead solder alloy that is used throughout the electronics industry. Small amounts of lead are also found inside the packages, for example the C4 bumps in flip chip BGA packages. Q2. Other than lead what other hazardous substances are in Tundra products today and does Tundra have plans to remove them? The EU RoHS legislation also specifies the use of substitute materials for the hazardous substances Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, and Fire Retardants PBB and PBDE. All of Tundra’s RoHS Compliant and RoHS Compliant/Green products are free of the above substances. A RoHS Compliant/Green product also contains no halogens including halogenated flame retardants (e.g. Bromine). Standard products may contain traces of these substances, along with lead. Q3. Has Tundra selected a lead-free solder?Tundra has selected the tin/silver/copper alloys, SAC305 and SAC405, as its replacement for tin/lead solder used in surface mount technology (SMT) components. These selections are consistent with the direction of the industry. Q4. What is Tundra’s RoHS Compliant product plan?RoHS Compliant versions of the Tsi107™, Tsi108™, Tsi564A™, Tsi586A™, Tsi310™, Universe™ II, PowerSpan™ II, PowerPro™, and QSpan™ II, are now available. Not all of our part numbers offered today currently have a RoHS Compliant option listed. This does not mean that we will not offer one in the future. Please contact us to request a part number not listed in the availability table. All of Tundra’s unreleased products currently sampling and under development will be RoHS compliant and offer tin/lead and tin/silver/copper finish options. Q5. What if I need a RoHS Compliant product now from Tundra? Please review the availability table that outlines which part numbers are available and when first samples and production are available. Generally, lead-time for RoHS Compliant products is 12 weeks but could be more or less depending on the product. If the product you need is not listed or you need it earlier please contact your sales representative. We will do our best to accommodate your requests. |
