Position Summary

As a Principal Engineer, Signal Integrity you will be responsible for ensuring PCB, package and ASIC signal integrity conformance.

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Participate in industry progressions in the signal integrity field
  • Define and drive signal integrity requirements and methodologies in smaller geometries
  • Evaluate design impact on board level system performance, package requirements and signal integrity
  • Extraction and SPICE analysis on critical circuits
  • Assess timing, noise margin, crosstalk, signal loss and signal integrity of all clocks and critical data signals and develop noise and timing budgets
  • Define die, package and printed circuit board power delivery requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams on chip level integration issues to guarantee signal integrity conformance
  • Company-wide scope, spanning multiple sites and requiring occasional travel

Other possible responsibilities:

  • Occasionally create, extract and SPICE custom special purpose cells, such as; delay lines and clock gating circuits
  • Participate in selection and integration of third party custom hard macros, such as PLLs and I/Os
  • Define high speed circuit integrity and clocking methodologies
  • Interface with ESD, Latch up, I/O and layout specialists to ensure silicon integrity
  • Performing quality assurance procedures on hard macros

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Masters preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years in high speed interface development
  • A strong device physics background, working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and VLSI design are required
  • Knowledge of PLLs, DLLs, oscillators, SERDES, I/Os, controllers and high-speed digital circuits
  • Understanding of simulation models, design rules, verification procedures (DRC/LVS/ERC), and transistor-level simulations is essential
  • Experience with design practices such as minimizing device mismatch, noise, and signal coupling is a plus
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools i.e. Cadence Analog Artist, Spectre and/or HSPICE
  • Experience with printed circuit board layout requirements and modeling preferred
  • Self-motivated individual who has the ability to collaborate across multiple sites
  • Willing to travel to our design center in India and have flexible working hours to support our multi site R&D organization
