Advanced CTA®The PICMG® Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) specifications target the requirements of carrier grade communications systems. AdvancedTCA is also known as the PICMG3.x family of specifications.
AdvancedTCA, or ATCA systems leverage standards based system interconnect and next generation processors to provide improved reliability, manageability and serviceability. Supported by a broad base of system, board, semiconductor, software, chassis, connector and power supply vendors, ATCA is being deployed in many applications. These include carrier-grade convergent telecom access and edge equipment as well as data center and storage equipment.
AdvancedTCA is optimized for very high capacity, high performance applications.
Tundra products can be used in AdvancedTCA compliant assemblies for both local chip-to-chip interconnect as well as board-to-board interconnect across the backplane using switching cards. Tundra also offers a number of power controller products suitable for MicroTCA™ applications.
The PICMG 3.0 specification is the base specification that defines the mechanical form factor, power and cooling parameters, backplane interconnects and the system management architecture necessary to construct compliant backplane, chassis and plug in cards. It also defines base fabrics for system control and management. Subsidiary specifications are defining fabric protocols for control and data plane communications. These include PICMG 3.1 for 10/100/1000 Ethernet, PICMG3.5 for RapidIO®.
